Parent & Community Organizations
At Sanderson, we consider YOU our greatest resource and our partner in education. When we work together, Sanderson children benefit. Please consider joining one of our school organizations or contact us to find out how you can help.
Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO)
The Sanderson Academy Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) works to foster communication and support within the school. We welcome all parents, teachers, and community members to attend our monthly meetings. We traditionally hold our meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month during the school year. We provide free child care during these meetings.
Local Education Council (LEC)
The Sanderson Local Education Council (LEC) includes parents, staff, and community members who serve as an advisory board for the principal under the state’s mandate for more local control of schools. We welcome and encourage the public to attend.
The council meets on a monthly basis and works with the principal to determine the needs of the school, to review the yearly budget, to develop school policies, and to develop and implement a yearly School Improvement Plan to meet the assessed needs of the school.
Safety Committee
The Sanderson Safety Committee includes representatives from the Ashfield and Plainfield Fire and Police Departments, parents and staff. The goal of this committee is to assist in providing a safe and secure environment for the Sanderson community. The Sanderson Safety Committee meets throughout the year to develop procedures and programs that ensure the safety of all, including programs for a specific classroom or the school population as a whole. Our committee meetings are open to the public; we will post times and location as the meetings approach.
